2/365 - Coolest Elevator in Melbourne

This photo was taken from the back of the only elevator in Melbourne that has this guy in it all day long to manually slide the door open and press the buttons for you. He loves it!
Not my best photo ever, but, can you feel how small the space is?
The whole inside of this lift is covered in postcards, clippings, stickers, posters, garlands of flowers. There's almost no empty spots on the walls.
It's just the coolest!

What a happy space, I bet everyone who steps into it leaves feeling happier.

It's amazing in this day and age that this job still exists, I wonder how many of these 'guys' there are left in the world....me thinks this would be a great coffee table read?!?

Maybe you should go back and interview him Ky, I bet he has more than one fascinating story to tell.

Oh my gosh! I absolutely love this picture. More than most pictures I have seen. You totally and completely captured him. And the picture tells a story. This is absolutely beautiful work! I love your pictures and I love your words : )

oh am I happy I've stumbled upon your blog. I see you've begun a 365 and both of your photos are fantastic. you've captured pure joy in the first, and I really really like the elevator photo. I think you snapped at precisely the right time and that's a gift. the elevator man is captured in the midst of action with a smile on his face and this is beautiful. I'm looking forward to sharing your 365 journey and I hope you have a beautiful day!

Neat. I just love running into people who enjoy their jobs and add a little flair to an otherwise mundane day. I don't know that guy, but I already like him!

OH how wonderful ! I have been in that elevator, met that lovely smiling man. Hint, it is in Melbourne (of course!) and apparently he's the last elevator operator in Melbourne.
